From the Back Cover:
Ministry Marketing Made Easy defines Ministry Marketing as everything the church does to share the story of Jesus.
This book challenges church leaders with a totally different and practical approach to marketing the church's message.
Often, church leaders define marketing as spending large amounts of money on big ads in the church page section of local newspapers, building a killer web site, creating publications in full color that are professionally printed, or turning to a dozen other standard marketing ideas that cost lots of money. Just as often, the church realizes very little return on its investment.
Ministry Marketing Made Easy provides alternative, practical ways for church leaders to communicate the church's message. Reaching people with the church's message isn't as hard as you might assume.
Instead of using fancy expensive ads, the book recommmends the use of: - postcards and business card-sized invitation cards - ads in movie theaters and other unexpected places - bulletins that make sense to first time visitors - welcome centers that really welcome people - niche newsletters, and more.
This book deals with how to reach people today, people who are: - authority indifferent - time starved - unfamiliar with Christian terms or references - spiritually seeking.
The book also provides practical tips on how to: - manage Marketing Ministry volunteers - choose the right combination of software and printing tools - find resources that will make your Ministry Marketing more effective.
BOOK ENDORSEMENTS:
Jesus' mission strategy was to turn ordinary servants into fishers of women and men-ministry marketers. I am excited to discover a resource devoted to this same passion. Yvon Prehn presents a must-read for any ministry leader whose mission is to reach people for Jesus. -- Kim Miller, Creative Director of Ginghamsburg Church and author of Handbook for Multisensory Worship, Volumes One and Two.
Through practical advice and ideas, Yvon reminds us that clear and concise communication provides avenues for people to connect with and participate in the Body of Christ in the world today. Ministry Marketing Made Easy provides insight for communication within the local congregation as well as communication to those just "outside the gates." -- Stacy Hood, Director of Worship Ministries for Grace Community: A United Methodist Congregation in Shreveport, LA, author of ReKindling Your Music Ministry and coauthor of ReConnecting Worship.
Comment from Trinity Library:
I first met Yvon Prehn in 2007 when I took a two-day workshop on Effective Church Communications. Her advice is practical and simple and well worth following. To put it bluntly, it works and is budget-minded! In fact, the other Lutherans in attendance felt strongly that it would be of great benefit to have many others from our congregations participate in one of her workshops. Unfortunately, Yvon no longer does workshops due to health reasons. However, she now provides all of her information through a website and online instructional videos. Some may think that Church Marketing is outward focused. But it does much more than that! It helps provide communication tools to introduce people to Christ, welcomes them into God's Family (the Church), introduces newcomers to classes and functions within the congregation, helps them become Christ-followers (disciples), and enables disciples to reach out and share the faith with others.
If you find the practical content of Ministry Marketing Made Easy of value, consider also reading the excellent book by Richard L. Reising entitled Church Marketing 101: Preparing Your Church for Greater Growth. It shows how every board, committee, member and volunteer in the church is involved in Church Marketing whether they realize it or not!
