Max doesn't mean to cause trouble--he just likes to invent stuff. But whenever he invents something, trouble just kind of happens. He was only planning to prove to Allie and Grady that his latest invention, Timebender, really worked. It was supposed to be a short trip into the past. He had no idea that Toby had fixed it so that they couldn't get back.

First, they had a close encounter with a hungry T.Rex. Then, just when Max thought he had Timebender headed back to their own time, they ended up somwhere before time--in the middle of a full-scale war! Planes were blowing up . . . weird lights were whirling all around them . . . they were running out of air . . . and there seemed to be no way back!
